This photo shows details of the engine's cylinder.  Note the vertical flyball governor head near the top of the photo.

Hot air from the compressor passed through this aftercooler assembly to reduce the temperature and to remove moisture.  An air receiver provided air storage capacity and helped to reduce pressure fluctuations in the system

One of the support piers for the aftercooler assembly carried this inscription from 1913.
