Bessemer

BESSEMER - STRUTHERS WELLS

This is a large Bessemer cylinder with the hit and miss governor mounted on the commercial Struthers Wells, of Warren, PA, frame.  Note the disc crankshaft.  It pumped a rod line power just south of Warren, PA.

Boardman

BOARDMAN CONVERSION TO MONITOR

This is another version of half breed where the steam cylinder was converted to gas.  It is a Robert Boardman, of Oil City, PA, four-cycle conversion to a Monitor steam engine built in Erie, PA.   It was used near Pithole, PA.

Innis

INNIS - INNIS

This is probably not a half breed but a factory “economy” model.  Some times makers would use their own conversion cylinders on their steam frames to do this.  Both the cylinder and frame are Innis built by Oil Well Supply of Oil City,  PA.  This engine was found in the old OWS grounds.

Sheffer

SHEFFER - STRUTHERS WELLS

This unusual four-cycle, hit and miss cylinder was built by Sheffer of Emlenton, PA. They were a very small maker and few survived.  It is on a S W steam frame made in Warren, PA.  It pumped an oil lease near Emlenton.
