This is the faithful 8 hp Evans, built in Butler, PA, that runs all day long for our shows. It is mounted on a factory skid that also holds the gear drive and clutch to operate the walking beam that pumps the well. The wooden tank can be seen through the back door. |
Located at the front of the engine, the gearing shown here operates the overhead walking beam for the pump outside the building. |
The walking beam extends out the side of the building to the well, which is about 7 feet deep. The water tank fed by the pump is in the lower left corner of the photo. |
