Witte Engine

WITTE DIESELECTRIC

This 12 hp unit is belt connected to an 8 kw generator.  Witte built these full diesel units in the 1930s and they were made for continuous running with pressure lubricated roller bearings.  Its lines are very streamlined for its vintage. It was purchased from a collector in Connecticut in the early 1980s.

CONTROL PANEL

This is the original control panel with the master switch and meters.  There is a rheostat to vary the voltage.  There are two Hoyt ammeters, one for the main output and one for the exciter as well as an output voltmeter.  Once set, the unit would maintain full voltage from idle to full load.
