Bovaird & Seyfang Pumping Power - Page 1

Bovaird & Seyfang Building East

Here is the east side of the building while under reconstruction.  This end of the building houses the engine.  Exley Station is in the background.

Bovaird & Seyfang Building North

This view shows the north side of the building following reconstruction.

40 HP Bovaird & Seyfang Engine

The 40 hp Bovaird & Seyfang engine is positioned level within the building.

Pumping Power

The pumping power is tilted with respect to the engine.  No belts here!  The engine drives the pumping power directly via a shaft.  Note the slots in the base of the building.  Rod lines from the pumping power passed through the slots and out to the oil field.

Engine Exhaust

Seen from the valley below, the building fits in nicely with the museum's landscape.  The engine puffs some emissions into the air for the full experience.

Vortex Ring

Just to add even more interest, the Bovaird & Seyfang doubles as a "vortex cannon."  When winds are calm, smoke rings from the engine's exhaust sail across the valley and rustle leaves on the other side of the clearing.
