FAIRBANKS MORSE TYPE T
DIRECT CURRENT DYNAMO
Some busier Transit stations had electric lights and this dynamo came
from the Tiona, PA National Transit station where it was mounted in a
box outside the building with a line shaft extending to it.
Wires ran to the lights inside but sparks from the dynamo were
kept away from the crude oil. It now lights McKee Station using the
original rheostat and meter.
The engine is a Fairbanks Morse, Type T, with the special heavy electric
lighting flywheels, throttle governor, water pump and multifeed
lubricator. Although this
engine would not be typical of a Transit station, it completes our
display here.
